We are excited to collaborate with some of our fantastic community partners and subject matter experts to offer a range of training modules designed to support individuals and organizations supporting people with disabilities in sports and recreation.
Before you begin, please read through the following:
– Registration (group or individual) is required to access the Calgary Adapted Hub powered by Jumpstart modules – please register HERE.
– All of the Calgary Adapted Hub powered by Jumpstart Learning Modules are designed to be facilitated by staff supporting learning and development within their organizations OR viewed by individuals who wish to learn at their own pace.
– Modules can be used independently or linked together to form a more extensive learning and development framework – for support on building these into your current training plans, please connect with Jen Goeres, Calgary Adapted Hub Program and Community Engagement Coordinator.

1. INtroduction to INclusion (in partnership with INclusion INcorporated) (recorded webinar – 2 hours)
Unlock the power of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) to transform your personal, professional, and community spaces. This webinar explores DEIB concepts, historical and systemic inequalities, and the impact of bias and discrimination through the principles of allyship and how you can use actionable strategies to foster inclusivity and belonging. Learn to recognize and overcome common barriers, champion positive change, and support underrepresented communities with Sarah Gallsworthy at INclusion INcorporated.
2. Unlocking Potential in Neurodiverse Participants (in partnership with the Autism Aspergers Friendship Society (AAFS)) (30 – 45 minutes)
Dive into learning about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with this insightful module designed to enhance your understanding and support for Autistic individuals. This learning will explore the characteristics of ASD and provide practical tools to create inclusive environments for neurodiverse participants with Dean Svoboda, Executive Director of Autism Aspergers Friendship Society (AAFS).
3. Inclusion in Recreation (in partnership with Between Friends) (45 – 60 minutes)
Transform recreation into an inclusive, safe, and connected experience with Lucy Diep and Cienna Nesdoly from Between Friends. This dynamic course empowers you to create welcoming spaces, foster strong connections, and become an effective team player supporting inclusion by collaborating with caregivers and support networks to enhance participation and belonging.
4. Mental Health Literacy 101 (in partnership with Alberta Health Services – Mental Health Literacy Project) (30 – 45 minutes)
Boost your mental health literacy and become a confident mental health helper with Katherine Jarrell from the Mental Health Literacy Project – Mental Health Collaborative Child & Adolescent Addiction, Mental Health and Psychiatry Programs. This course covers the essentials of understanding the stress response, recognizing anxiety in participants, and supporting children and youth in managing their mental health by gaining practical tools and strategies to impact any sport and recreation program positively.
